Jorge Santana

Jorge Santana (born June 13, 1951 – October 14, 2020) was a Mexican-American guitarist known for his role in the Latin rock genre, particularly for his work with the band Malo. He was the younger brother of famed guitarist Carlos Santana. Jorge's music blended rock, jazz, and Latin influences, contributing to the rich tapestry of the genre. Malo, formed in 1971, gained prominence with their self-titled debut album featuring the hit single "Suavecito," which became a classic in the Chicano music scene. Jorge’s guitar work and songwriting were integral to the band’s identity, infusing their sound with a distinctive blend of soulful melodies and rhythmic grooves. In addition to his work with Malo, Jorge Santana also collaborated with various artists and bands throughout his career, including a brief stint with the group The Santana Blues Band.
